Before joining the Sins, Escanor was a reclusive nobleman, feared for his ability to destroy entire armies single-handedly during the day. However, this strength came with a curse; as night fell, he lost all magical power and became physically weak. This duality caused him isolation until Meliodas heard of his power and recruited him, fighting and defeating Escanor during the day to bring him into the Seven Deadly Sins. His integration into the group was rocky, but his loyalty grew through shared battles against demons and corrupt knights. Escanor’s relationship with Ban is particularly notable, as they often compete to prove their superiority while maintaining deep mutual respect. His power, known as 'Sunshine,' is a Grace originally belonging to the Archangel Mael, not a sacred power inherent to Escanor. In the final conflict against the Demon King's forces, Escanor reached his absolute peak to protect his friends. He ultimately died after using Sunshine at its absolute peak to destroy the Demon King's host body, which burned out his life force immediately after the attack, cementing his legacy as a hero who chose friendship over his own survival.
